Work
I have been working at Gravenhurst Sobeys for 2 years now in the produce department. My responsibilities include preparing produce, maintaining cleanliness of the department, training new employees (I have personally trained 6 new employees on my own), monitoring temperatures, providing customer service, maintaining product displays and filling out salad and fruit tray orders. I am the youngest employee in my department but I can easily talk to any of my coworkers about our personal lives. In March of 2016 I was awarded Sobeys employee of the month. This is usually decided based on votes, however manager went straight to the head manager of Sobeys to tell him that I deserved this title.

art
Throughout high school, art has always been a passion of mine. I have gained a great deal of skill during my art practices in the grades 9, 11 and 12 art courses. I have become extremely confident using all types of media.
In grade 11 I entered a contest for The Natalie Novak Youth Award. It was introduced in 2012 and is presented by Dawn and Ed Novak, Natalie’s parents. Natalie was a Ryerson student who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2006. Her parents have turned their grief into action. They had students across Ontario create posters with the phrase "Stop the Silence, Prevent the Violence" to spread awareness of domestic abuse and potentially violent relationships.
I ended up winning second place in this contest, having my poster printed and posted around some schools in Ontario, and was rewarded with a $100.00 prize.

In grade 12 art have really enjoyed the freedom to create whatever I want. A small class made it really easy to share ideas and help each other out. It was nice to always have encouragement from my classmates. During grade 12 students always organize their own art show and prepare a number of pieces to present to the community.Although it was postponed to the spring of next semester due to weather conditions, I still put a great deal of effort into preparation for this show, including creating invitations and posters for advertising.
Some of my favorite art pieces created using a variety of media:
